THE TUBIE LOVE STORY

THEY SAY THAT OUT OF ADVERSITY COMES OPPORTUNITY, AND THAT’S VERY MUCH HOW our STORY BEGAN.

Our twins, James and Aidan were born in 2010 at 26 weeks. Our wee James passed away when the boys were four days old. What followed was a year in Wellington Hospital NICU, two years on oxygen, a lifetime of tube feeding, and ultimately, the opportunity to help families, just like us.

Tube feeding families will know just how frustrating on-going granulation issues and skin irritation can be – not only for our children, but for us as parents who simply want to do what’s best. So, struggling to find gentle, effective and practical pads available in New Zealand, I started making my own.

As Aidan grew, so too did his need for solutions that allowed him to safely explore the world around him in the same way his peers can. I made Aidan a feeding belt when he started kindergarten to enable him to be fed while still actively engaging in all his activities – and to give me peace of mind that his tubing wouldn’t get caught! He’s now at school, and has a collection of pads, belts and covers that mean nothing has to hold him back.

While my aim was to transform Aidan’s life, I never expected the impact it would have on the lives of so many other tube feeding families - or my own. The need to stay home with Aidan, together with my desire to help other families find greater freedom with tube feeding, meant I made the decision to put my sewing skills to use, and Tubie Love was created to help make the lives of tube fed children and their families a little easier.

I’m continuously looking at new ways to provide fun yet functional solutions, and always open to creating new products to suit the needs of my customers. Every item is handmade in New Zealand, and my promise to you is this: if it's not good enough for our son, it's not good enough for anyone else.
